A partner in education
Monroe #1 BOCES is one of 37 Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) operating throughout New York State. BOCES 1 is located in the Town of Perinton, a suburb southeast of Rochester, New York. BOCES 1 is a cooperative extension of the ten Monroe County suburban school districts on the east side of Rochester and also serves 48 school districts from 12 neighboring counties in western New York.
The strength of BOCES lies in how cost-savings programs are cooperatively provided to support students who need help meeting the learning standards, students preparing for college and careers, and adults in the community who are improving their skills.
Monroe #1 BOCES was initiated by its component school districts and chartered on January 5, 1956 to carry out a program of shared educational services and instruction. From those early years of providing a few shared staff, BOCES has grown to offer more than 80 programs and services for more than 46,000 students in our ten component school districts.
