All approved related services are available independently or in combination with one another. Services may take place at SSLC’s designated clinic spaces, classrooms, childcare, nursery school, in the child’s home or an appropriate neutral site agreed upon by the parent and provider. Session frequency and duration are determined by the child’s IFSP or IEP. Collaboration between therapists, parents and other agencies involved is an integral part of the program and should be considered as an approved service whenever multiple providers are present on a child’s team. This could take the form of a meeting set on a predetermined basis.

The Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) program is an example of one of the methods utilized to achieve the objectives. It is a combination of research and practical experience in child development, behavior modification, developmentally appropriate practices and meeting the overall needs of special children in combination with the principles of the “Lovaas” approach. It is imperative, in order for the ABA program to run smoothly and effectively for children; a team effort and ample communication are first and foremost on the agenda of each child’s curriculum. For information concerning this program or IFSP/IEP development, please contact Mary Richardson the Coordinator of Autism Services at (585) 467-4567 or email@example.com or Christina Werts at (585) 467-4567 or firstname.lastname@example.org
The Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support (SCERTS) program at SSLC will be starting in the summer of 2011. The Relationship-based Autism Program (RAP) will be transitioning to the more empirically based SCERTS model. The goal of this model is to provide therapy that is individualized to children on the autism spectrum and his/her family, as well as to encourage social communication and provide appropriate supports in order to help the child gain and maintain regulation so learning can occur.
