The CPP staff has a combined experience of over 65 years to promote the highest quality programming. They have years of experience in community based instruction with children. They easily work together pulling from their areas of specialty to empower families.

When not functioning as the President and Executive Director of Camp Puzzle Peace, Jen Hackett, works for the Webster Central School District where she has worked as a special education teacher for more than two decades. Since cofounding Camp Puzzle Peace, Jen has devoted countless hours developing an organization dedicated to helping children and families facing autism. Jen specializes in children with behavioral needs and limited communication and has worked with a wide range of children on the autism spectrum and their families. Jen currently is a consulting for New York State and The Open Space Institute in the creation of a new nature trail, specialized for children with ASD, in Letchworth State Park. Her passion for empowering others is evident in her dedication to families in the community. Jen lives in Rochester, NY with her husband and two children.

Sandi is a certified school psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with children across the Autism Spectrum. She has worked in both school and recreational settings. Much of her time has been spent helping children and families build skills in the areas of communication, self-regulation and behavior. She has a passion for helping people improve their personal health and wellness and believes getting outdoors and being active is an essential part of being healthy and happy. Sandi loves hiking, kayaking and camping with her family and friends and is a long time yoga practitioner. Sandi is a Register Yoga Teacher who works primarily with children and teens. She is owner of KidsROC Yoga. Sandi lives in Ontario, NY with her husband, son, daughter and chocolate lab.
Lead Swim Instructor and Waterfront Director

Alex Balta has been a lifeguard and swim instructor for over twenty years. She holds certification as a Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, Oxygen, and Water Safety Instructor for the YMCA in Rochester. She has been lead swim instructor for the past three years at the Y, specializing in working with a wide range of children and their needs. Alex is also a classroom teacher, teaching in the elementary setting for over 14 years. She currently teaches 2nd grade in an inclusive classroom, and has previously taught grades 1-4 in a variety of nontraditional settings. Alex is certified in elementary, literacy, and special education from NYS. Teaching and swimming are her passions, and her way of changing the world! Alex lives in Rochester where she was born and raised.
Coordinator of Sensory Supports

Emily Slesak is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). Emily has enjoyed working with children with special needs for over 15 years. Much of this time has been spent helping children with Autism engage fully in their environment through adaptations and sensory processing techniques. She is compassionate and has a gift for helping children open up and try new things. Emily loves being outdoors, and spends a lot of time with her family hiking, mountain biking, skiing, swimming, and camping.
